Our story really originates with the people who have loved us into who we are today. Kalyn loves Bradley for the man you have helped him become, and Bradley loves Kalyn for the woman you have helped her become. To our friends and family who have poured into us, prayed for us, called us higher, laughed and cried with us—thank you.
Like many great romances, you could say ours also began through a mutual friend: Hinge, who apparently has a real knack for match-making.
We first met in the summer of 2024 when Kalyn was entering her last year of law school and interning at Legal Aid of North Carolina in Charlotte. Our first date was at the restaurant Suffolk Punch, and our second date was a round of pickleball played in the sweltering July heat. Kalyn, ever competitive, sweated far more than she was comfortable with — but Bradley didn’t seem to mind. In fact, he suggested continuing the date at Ben & Jerry’s afterward, much to Kalyn's relief.
Once we exchanged phone numbers, our area codes were the first clue that we might have more in common than we realized — both start with "336." Kalyn grew up in Asheboro, NC, just forty-five minutes away from Bradley's hometown of Lexington, NC. Kalyn felt a sweet connection to someone who shared her North Carolina roots, though she had spent the last decade in Knoxville, Tennessee (Go Vols).
Our third date was spent celebrating July 4th at the U.S. National Whitewater Center. The evening entailed listening to an Americana band and laughing over the mustard that Kalyn spilled on her overalls. This didn't deter Bradley from pulling her close for a dance on the lawn, though ;-)
The rest, as they say, is history. Our shared faith in Jesus, love for people, and love of the outdoors proved to be rich soil for an enduring relationship to grow. We got engaged at sunrise on October 18th, 2025, in the same mountains where we will be wed.
For the proposal, Kalyn's friends invited her to join them for a "girls weekend" in Waynesville, NC, and asked her to watch the sunrise with them on the first morning. As they approached the sunrise viewpoint, she saw Bradley there waiting, where he dropped to one knee.
Leaving Knoxville after the wedding will be bittersweet for Kalyn, to say the least, but we're also excited to start our next chapter together in Charlotte, NC.
As we look forward to this Spring, please be praying for Christ to be made great in our engagement season as well as our marriage, as we enter into covenant with Him and one another. To God be the glory!
Love Always,
Bradley & Kalyn
